Meet Alex and Owen, new residents that are calling Envie Rideau their home. We asked them to tell us a little bit about their time here and what it’s like so we can share their experiences with you. Here is what they had to say.
What Envie building and suite type did you choose?
We chose an Adore suite on the Rideau side.
Why did you choose Envie?
The location was the main selling point for Envie. It is just a short walk to the university, which is extremely convenient for a student. Also, the many events Envie hosts were a huge benefit to individuals such as us who came from another province. These events made it super easy to meet new people and make friends. The amenities, such as the gym and sky lounge, are also a huge bonus.
Why did you choose a shared suite?
As a student and young professional, money is always a major concern. Choosing a shared suite has allowed us to maintain our budget and still have room to do the activities we enjoy. Living in a shared suite this size is also a very unique experience for a young couple and has allowed us to get closer and learn a lot about each other.
What’s the best part about your shared suite?
It is very convenient to be able to cook, do laundry, and watch TV all at the same time. The suite is also very easy to clean and has a super cozy feel. We like to call it our “Tiny Home.”
How has your experience been so far?
So far, our experience has been positive. Our room is modern, and clean, and we are able to fit everything we need. Everyone we have met here has been very friendly and helpful. The building is also in a great downtown location where anything you need is within walking distance.
What are your top tips for thriving in a shared environment?
Make sure you are communicating. If your partner is doing something you don’t like, or you need some quiet/alone time, say so. It is also important to clean up after yourself. A space like this can get messy quickly and you don’t want your partner always to have to clean up after you. Earplugs and blindfolds are a must for light sleepers, especially if you and your partner are on different schedules. Be creative with storage; bins and shelves can do wonders. And most importantly, don’t forget to take the time to do things you enjoy, whether that be together or separately.
What is your favourite part about life at Envie?
Definitely our room! We love how cozy and comfortable it feels. It has felt like home since the first night! Envie also facilitates many fun opportunities to meet people through social events. The gym also gets an honourable mention as it has everything you need to get an awesome workout. We are impressed that it has far more than most apartment gyms.
