COVID-19: Information/Resources

Are the Offices still open?

As of June 9th, all of our offices are open to the public! All offices require you to wear a mask and continue to practice social distancing.

Are the common spaces still accessible?

As of June 9th, our common spaces remain closed until Ontario enters Phase 1 of reopening in a couple of weeks.

Are there any additional health and safety protocols in place?

Housekeeping staff wear masks and gloves when entering suites for cleanings. Infection control protocols have been implemented according to standards established by our Health Professionals at Choo Communities’ properties – these include disinfection procedures, scheduling and proper usage of approved PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Will property tours still take place?

As of June 9th, in-person tours are back and better than ever with social distancing guidelines. Please contact our leasing team at to schedule your tour. 3D tours of our suites and common spaces are also available on our website for an immersive view of Envie from the safety of your home.

What are my rent payment options?

We accept cash, cheque, debit, and credit at our reception desk. During this time, we are asking tenants, if possible, to pay online using our starrez portal to limit social interactions.

Where to get tested for COVID-19?

If you are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms or if you have been notified that you were in contact with a positive Covid-19 case you can check out where to get tested in Ottawa.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can vary from person to person. Symptoms may also vary in different age groups. Some of the more commonly reported symptoms include:

  • new or worsening cough
  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • temperature equal to or over 38°C
  • feeling feverish
  • chills
  • fatigue or weakness
  • muscle or body aches
  • new loss of smell or taste
  • headache
  • gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting)
  • feeling very unwell

What if I test positive for COVID-19?

If you do test positive, please inform Envie management immediately at and follow the government-implemented 14-day self-isolation protocol by staying in your room, unless required for emergency purposes. Click here for more information regarding COVID testing.

Is there anything else I can do to prevent COVID-19?

Yes, below are some things you can do to maintain your health and for others in your building.

  • Continue to follow Government Mandated guidelines.
  • Remember to wear your mask – it is mandatory in all common areas of the building
  • Continue to social distance – distancing yourself from others by at least 6 feet is the best way of limiting exposure and preventing a spread of the virus.
  • Avoid gathering in groups including spaces where multiple residents gather such as the lobby, elevators, penthouse, and study rooms.
  • Avoid having guests over in your apartment – the fewer visitors that enter our building means lowering the risk of exposure for others.

How do I know that Envie is for me?

If you are looking for modern furnished suites at an affordable price, an amazing location, and a quick transport to two major Ottawa universities, then Envie is the place for you!

Where is Envie located?

Envie is in one of the most beautiful districts in Ottawa – Little Italy. With pizza, pasta, and gelato at virtually every corner, plus vegan and ethnic cuisine, this lively neighbourhood is a foodie’s dream. You’ll also find a variety of activities at nearby Dow’s Lake, from paddling in the summer to skating in the winter.

I have disability or medical condition and need special accommodations.

Any resident who needs an accommodation should notify us as soon as possible so that we can make you comfortable in your new home.


Do I need to have a roommate before I move in?

No roommate? No problem! We will place single students with other students based on information and preferences you have indicated in our new roommate matching program!

Can I request a specific roommate?

Absolutely! All you have to do is indicate that you have a roommate you wish to live with.

Do I need a deposit?

We require first and last month’s rent upon signing the lease. A pre-authorized payment system and online payments are available for even greater convenience.

How am I billed for my rent?

Your rent charge is visible in our resident portal. Our payment options include monthly pre-authorized payment, postdated cheques and online payments for greater convenience.

Are the suites co-ed?

That’s up to you! You get to choose whether you prefer to live in an all-female, all male, or co-ed suite.

When can I move in?

Move-in schedules are provided during our busy season to ensure that it is a seamless and smooth process for everyone. Your leasing agent will stay in contact with you regarding your move-in date / time.

Can I smoke in my room?

No. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas located outside of building and must be at least 9 meters from any entrance. This includes smoking and vaping.

Can I have a pet?

No. Envie is not a pet-friendly building however service animals are exempt from this policy.


Are the suites furnished?

Yes, each suite comes fully furnished. The living room comes with a sofa or sectional, a side table, and a large flat screen TV. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances (including refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher), table, bench, and chairs. The bedrooms come furnished with a double bed or single bed + mattress, nightstand, a desk, and a chair. Each suite includes a washing machine and dryer.

Do I need to bring cutlery, dishes, pots, and pans?

The suites come with a set of dishes, cups and cutlery, toaster, coffee maker as well as pots and pans. However, you must bring your own cooking utensils (i.e. spatula, cheese grader, colander, can opening, etc).


Is there security in the building?

Yes. Envie is equipped with high definition cameras. They cover the parking areas, all common areas, and the exterior of the building. Front desk staff are also on-site 7am to 11pm and professional security on staff between 11pm to 7am.

What do room rates cover?

Envie’s rates include hydro, gas, water, internet, maintenance, and WIFI. Any additional items such as a landline, ethernet or cable in the suite is extra.

Are there bike storage units on site?

Yes! We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and that means lots of secure bike racks.

Is there parking available?

Underground parking will be available soon. More information to come. Although we encourage students to make use of their U-Pass and bring their bikes. Ottawa has a fantastic public transportation system and Envie is just minutes away from multiple bus routes.

What does Housekeeping service provide?

Envie offers complimentary housekeeping in the common space inside your suite on a monthly basis. Staff will also be cleaning and disinfecting the building on a daily basis.

Can I get additional cleaning services?

We currently do not offer additional housekeeping. There is only the regular monthly housekeeping for common spaces.

What if I need something in my suite fixed?

We have maintenance staff to fix issues related to each suite. Fill out a service request and our maintenance staff will address the issue. You will be given 24 hours’ notice whenever possible for any maintenance issues that require access to your suite. If it is an emergency, please call the reception desk so that they can have it addressed immediately.

Do I need tenant's insurance?

Yes, tenant’s insurance is required as per your lease. We have some local contacts for tenant insurance that we can pass on. Of course, you can get your own through your family’s insurance provider.


How do I meet people?

We have an unrivalled Envie lifestyle program which is designed to help meet residents, explore the community, and make memories with your new friends/roommates. Our Lifestyle Manager and Resident Advisors will help you take advantage of all things Envie!

How will I know what's going on at Envie?

Our Lifestyle team is always organizing events that are fun and social (or all of the above!). These will be shared on our lobby TV as well as on our socials! Once moved into Envie, you will also have access to our exclusive resident platform. Events, giveaways, & general information is posted here for your convenience.
