We know picking a space to call home can be daunting, so we want to make it as easy as possible by giving you all the information you need. Don’t see the answer to your question below? Give us a shout and we’ll fill you in.


Are the Offices still open?

Yes, all our offices are still open, including leasing. We are taking all necessary precautions and practicing social distancing to ensure the safety of you, our residents and our team. Alternatively, we can be reached by phone or email as well. In keeping up with social distancing, we ask you keep your distance if you do decide to visit our offices.

Are the common spaces still accessible?

Yes, the study rooms, penthouse are still open and the Fitness Studio is opening July 20th. Please remember to continue practicing social distancing in all common areas, including the bike room and the lobby.

Gym is reopening Monday July 20th. New hours 930AM-10PM with a short closure at 3PM  (1hr of sanitizing).

Gym will have a limit of 11 people at a time with 1h 45mins workouts max.

Gym equipment has been spread around to encourage distancing (6ft).

Gym equipment will need to be wiped off by resident with disinfectant wipes after each use.

Are there any additional health and safety protocols in place?

Housekeeping staff wear masks and gloves when entering suites for cleanings. Infection control protocols have been implemented according to standards established by our Health Professionals at Alavida Lifestyles Retirement Residences – these include disinfection procedures, scheduling and proper usage of approved PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Will property tours still take place?

Physical tours are available! We ask that if you come for a physical tour that your wear appropriate PPE equipment and pass the screening test. Envie is also offering building tours virtually – for information on virtual tours, please contact our leasing team at 3D tours of our suites and common spaces are also available on our website for an immersive view of Envie from the safety of your home.

What are my rent payment options?

During this time, we are asking all our tenants to pay online using our starrez portal.

What does it mean to self-isolate?

Self-isolation is for people who are already sick with COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive. This protocol helps keep the infected persons away from the healthy persons to stop the spread.

Where to get tested for COVID-19?

If you are feeling any Covid-19 symptoms or if you have been notified that you were in contact with a positive Covid-19 case you can check out where to get tested here:

Symptoms of COVID-19 can vary from person to person. Symptoms may also vary in different age groups. Some of the more commonly reported symptoms include:

  • new or worsening cough
  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • temperature equal to or over 38°C
  • feeling feverish
  • chills
  • fatigue or weakness
  • muscle or body aches
  • new loss of smell or taste
  • headache
  • gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting)
  • feeling very unwell


What if I test positive for COVID-19?

If you do test positive, please inform Envie management immediately at and follow the government-implemented 14-day self-isolation protocol by staying in your bedroom/apartment, unless required for emergency purposes. Click here for more information regarding COVID testing.

Is there anything else I can do to prevent COVID-19

Yes, below are some things you can do to maintain your health and for others in your building.

  • Continue to social distance – distancing yourself from others by at least 6 feet is the best way of limiting exposure and preventing a spread of the virus.
  • Avoid gathering in groups including spaces where multiple residents gather such as the lobby, elevators, penthouse, and study rooms.
  • Avoid having guests over in your apartment – the fewer visitors that enter our building means lowering the risk of exposure for others.

Am I able to still sign a lease with Envie?

Yes, we are able to send leasing via online and email.

What do room rates cover?

Envie’s rates include hydro, gas, water, internet, maintenance, Wi-Fi, and a comprehensive Envie Life Program.

Is there security in the building?

Yes. Envie Student is equipped with high definition cameras. They cover the parking areas, all common areas and the exterior of the building. Community advisors and front desk staff are also on-site 24 hours a day. We have security on rounds of the building between 11pm-7am. 

What happens if I lose my keys?

If you lose your keys will be happy to replace the lost keys; however, for safety and security reason we will also have to change your lock and issue your suitemates new keys.

Are there bike storage units on site?

Yes. We try to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and that means plenty of secure bike racks! There are 120 spots located on site, easily accessible through our dedicated bike ramp.

Is there parking available?

No, there is no surface or underground parking available at this time. There are limited spaces that are reserved for pick up and drop off. We encourage students to make use of their U-Pass, and bring their bikes. Ottawa has a fantastic public transportation system and Envie is just minutes away from the O-Train.

Can I receive mail at while living at Envie?

Yes. The mail room is located in the main lobby. You will receive your mailbox key when you move in. Your mailbox is shared with the other members of your suite.

What does Housekeeping service provide?

As part of your services with Envie we will be cleaning the common space inside your suite on a monthly basis. A cleaning schedule is posted and provided to all residents so that you are aware of when staff will be entering your unit. Staff will also be cleaning the common areas of the residence daily.

Can I get additional cleaning services?

 We currently do not offer additional housekeeping. There is only the regular monthly housekeeping for common spaces.

What if I need something in my suite fixed?

We have maintenance staff to fix issues related to each suite. Fill out a service request and our maintenance staff will address the issue. You will be given 24 hours’ notice whenever possible for any maintenance issues that require access to your suite. If it is an emergency, please call the reception desk so that they can have it addressed immediately.

Can I get tenant insurance coverage through you?

We have some local contacts for tenant insurance that we can pass on. Of course, you can get your own through your family’s insurance provider.


Are the suites furnished?

Yes, each suite comes fully furnished. The living room comes with a sofa or sectional, a coffee table, and a large flat screen TV. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances (including refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher), table, bench and chairs. The bedrooms come furnished with a double bed, night stand, a study table and a chair. Each suite includes a washing machine and dryer.

Do I need to bring cutlery, dishes, pots, and pans?

The suites come with a set of dishes, cups and cutlery, as well as a toaster and coffee maker. We also offer residents pots and pans.

Is there a TV in my room?

None of the bedrooms have a television in them. Each suite has one in the common area (living room).

Are there beds in the rooms? Do I have to bring my own mattress?

All of the suites and bedrooms are completely furnished. Each student will have a double-sized bed and mattress; desk with a chair; a night table; a closet; and a private washroom. The only exception to this is some of the shared rooms that have single beds.

How do I meet people?

We understand that getting out and meeting other people is important. We have a robust Envie life program which is designed to help make memories that will last a lifetime. You’ll have a chance to meet our Student Lifestyle Manager and your Resident Advisors who will help to you take advantage of all things Envie!

I’m worried about my academics! Where can I get help?

The Envie Life Team is here to help you get to the resources you need. Simply speak to one of your Community Advisors or the Lifestyle Manager and they will help you connect with the on-campus resources.

What should residents do if they are not getting along with their roommates?

There are several options for students and their roommates to consider before any final room change decisions are made. The first option is roommate mediation, where all roommates meet with their Community Advisor to openly talk about the issues, and to come up with possible solutions. After roommate mediation, if things are still not working out, the roommates will discuss their issues with the Resident Lifestyle Manager. If no compromise can be reached, the students are welcome to go through the room change process, which includes a fee.


How soon should I submit my application to live at Envie?

As soon as you have made your decision to live with us you should complete your lease application, we compile our wait list in order of applications received. The sooner you get your paperwork signed and returned you can guarantee your suite/room selection.

Do I need to have a roommate before I move in?

No, we will place single students with other students based on information and preferences you have indicated in your personality profile questionnaire.

Can I request a specific roommate?

Absolutely! All you have to do is indicate that you have a specific roommate you wish to live with.

What deposit do you need?

We require first and last month’s rent upon signing the lease. A pre-authorized payment system and online payments are available for even greater convenience.

How am I billed for my rent?

The advance payment of first and last month rent are required upon lease signing. Our payment options include monthly pre-authorized payment and postdated cheques and online payments for greater convenience.

Will I receive rent receipts for my monthly payments?

Yes. Because we are a private off campus student housing building, you will receive rent receipts for all months that you stay with us. You may use them when filing your income tax returns.

Are the suites co-ed?

That depends on what you want and what you are comfortable with. You get to choose whether you prefer to live in an all-female, all male, or co-ed suite.

When can I move in?

Move-in schedules will be provided with your welcome package letter which will be emailed to you. We schedule move-in times to ensure that it is a seamless and smooth process for everyone.

Can I move in early?

It is possible; however, we ask that you contact us to determine if we can accommodate the early move-in request.

Can I smoke in my room?

No, smoking is only permitted in designated areas located outside of building and must be at least 9 meters from any entrance.

Can I have a pet?

No pets are allowed in the building. Service animals are exempt from this policy.

I have disability or medical condition and need special accommodation.

Any student who needs an accommodation should notify us as soon as possible so that we can work with you regarding the room assignment.
